This site contains information for both the beginner and veteran in direct mail, from writing copy to selecting a list, to measuing response rate and everything in between. The site is still being written, so many sections have bare information that will be filled out later.

A Step-by-step Guide to Direct Mail

(1) Is Direct Mail right for you?
Direct mail works great for certain applications and poorly for others. Click here to see if it is right for you

(2) Choosing your List
Like jury selection to a crimial lawyer, the mailer generally suceeds or fails based on how well you choose your list.

(3) The Offer
What offer are you putting forth to your list? You should spend serious time getting this right. 

(4) The Call to Action
What exactly do you want your prospect to do? Call you? Mail back a card? Order? Don't leave them confused. Here is some help.

(5) The "Package"
Only now, with your list, offer, and call to action nailed down, are you ready to make an intelligent decision about what kind of mailer to choose: self mailer, standard five-piece, postcard, etc.

(6) The Copy
Writing good direct mail copy is both a science and an art. We can teach you the science part.

(7) Testing
Every time you mail you should use part of the list to test a new idea. If you don't, its hard to get much smarter.

(8) Tracking
How are you going to track results? What is a "success"? If you can't answer these, don't bother mailing.
